  • Route: Circular
  • Start/finish point: A Ponte do Porto (Camariñas)
  • Length: 4 km.
  • Approximate duration (round trip): 1.5 hours
  • Difficulty: Easy

Another route approved in the municipality of Camariñas, a circular route that can be done in both directions starting from the town of A Ponte do Porto, which we can reach by the AC-432 road that connects Vimianzo with Camariñas.

We start this route in the recreational area of Curros, with a river viewpoint from which we can observe the mouth of the Grande River.
Continuing the trail, we arrived at Casa Moliño de Noia, where in exchange for a tax (maquila) the neighbors could use their services.
Again, we make a stop at another recreational area, this time in Penedo.
We can take a short break having a drink at the Bar O Cabazo and even observe the maneuvers of the fishermen since the river is a 2nd category reserve for fishing for sea trout and trout.

After this stop, we take the road again to another mill, Sofia’s.
It is in good condition and next to a dam with channels and water diversion.
A little further on, the next mill on this route, the Molino da Cota, with two grinding rooms and four wheels.
In addition to the mill, we can enjoy the nature that is around it, with species of great interest such as holly, royal fern, alavanco (mallard), river hen and grey heron.

We continue the path again next to the river, leaving the Posiño Bridge in our wake, which it is not necessary to cross.
Next to it another recreational area and remains of the Abaixo Mill.
At this point, if we want we can shorten the route and go directly to Las Barrosas, where we will end it.
On the contrary, we can follow the path to the Pesqueira fountain.
After this we find a new bridge, which this time we do cross to complete the route.
After passing through it we will observe the typical vegetation of forest, alders and willows, among others.
The last mill on this route is the Arriba, located in Las Barrosas, a village through which we will pass next.
We entered it through the Calzada Real, located on the Roman road Per Loca Marítima, which connected with Cereixo (Vimianzo) and Santiago de Compostela.

To finish this route, we can make a derivation to the Insua complex, a complex of housing, stable and granary on the banks of the river about 750 meters from the square.
We end the tour again at Ponte do Porto, in the Plaza de San Roque, where we can see the church of the same name and the Porto Bridge, built in the Middle Ages, with four semicircular arches, one of them somewhat pointed.

A simple and river route that takes us away from the great landscapes open to the Atlantic to discover the place of Ponte do Porto with many corners and charming buildings.
A very appropriate route to do with the family exploring the many mills and bridges that mark this short and easy route.
