It is a simple route, signposted as PR-G 70 (short-distance path), which runs along the entire east coast of Monte Insua to the Laxe Lighthouse and makes the way back through its west face until it surrounds the mountain.

With this tour we can visit some of the most emblematic places in Laxe while feeling the force of the sea and the landscapes as hard as they are beautiful of A Costa da Morte.

The route begins on the Paseo Marítimo de Laxe, where we can see the information panel.
From there we move through the town to the church of Santa María de Atalaya, in Gothic seafaring style.
From the village we start the way to the lighthouse, making a stop at the Mirador de la Insua, where we contemplate the landscape.
We leave the road to the lighthouse to enter the path that goes around Mount Insua, which takes us to the old quarry from which the rock was extracted to build the port of Laxe.

We continue our way along the signposted path until we reach the Furna del Asno, where the sea breaks with great force on the cliff.
We continue the path until we reach the highest point of the route, and then lose height over the cliffs in the direction of Punta de Boi and Punta Insua.

We arrive at the lighthouse, where we can take a break and enjoy the beautiful views of the Mirador del Faro de Laxe or Punta Insua.
In this place we must stop to contemplate the sculpture of “A espera”, a tribute to all the men of the sea and their women, who are impatiently waiting for their arrival in port.

We continue again along the path surrounding the western slope and descending along a section through which we must be extremely cautious as it is rocky, over the Furna de la Espuma and the stone of the lovers.
A place where we find declarations of love sculpted in the rock where the one made by the geologist Isidro Parga Pondal, grandnephew of the poet Eduardo Pondal, stands out.

After passing through Baleeira we arrive at one of the best known places in Laxe: the beach of the crystals.
Here we can be surprised by the reflections and the color of the thousands of polished crystals that make up the beach, but we must keep in mind the need to respect the place and not put any in our pockets.

From this point, and passing through the original cemetery, we return again to the intersection of the Mirador de la Insua and the center of Laxe.

We finish the route by walking along the promenade and beach of Laxe where the most veterans will recognize the famous “Portozás” from the TVG series Mareas Vivas.
Both the beach of Laxe and the nearby beach of Soesto are ideal to complete the day, as well as visit and observe the complex and the water birds that nest in the Traba lagoon.
