Costa da Morte, as expected, is a land of outdoor activities. Especially aquatic. Although it is true that the emergence of aquatic activities is relatively recent and, in general, the locals have always seen the sea as a way to make a living or as something to be afraid of.
Nowadays, more and more people are venturing into the ocean to catch waves or explore the depths. Are you up for it too?

Surf and kitesurf in Costa da Morte
Costa da Morte does not stand out for its calm sea. And this has attracted many surf lovers in recent decades. It is true that most of its beaches are for experienced surfers.
However, there is also room here for those who want to get started in this sport and there are schools with adapted classes in Razo (Carballo), Malpica de Bergantiños and Nemiña (Muxía). There they will provide you with the material, advise you on the best day to try and accompany you at all times.
If you already have more experience, these same beaches can also be very good for surfing. And some of the most famous for kitesurfing are those of Traba or Soesto in the Concello de Laxe.

Diving in Costa da Morte
Grabbing an oxygen cylinder and venturing into the depths of the Atlantic Ocean may sound terrifying to some but exciting to others. If you are one of the latter, scuba diving in Costa da Morte is made for you.
You can book this activity both in Malpica de Bergantiños and in Fisterra, where from the first dive you can dive to sunken ships, the ones that give name to this territory.
If you feel like seeing a bit more of the underwater life, but not going deep into the ocean, in many of the beaches you can easily see marine life while snorkeling. Get some simple goggles and snorkel and enjoy!
Paddlesurf in Costa da Morte
If all of the above sounds too extreme, but you feel like booking an activity, maybe paddleboarding is your best option in its relaxing version. There are beaches where you can book a paddleboard and have fun for a while in calm waters, which there are! Not all beaches are wild, but there are many others sheltered by the estuary where, even if you have to be attentive, you can enjoy in peace.

Kayak in Costa da Morte
Throughout the territory you will find different places where you can rent kayaks, thus having the possibility to make very different routes.
One of them is the Anllóns River Estuary, in the Concello de Ponteceso. This way, you can discover the charms of this area paddling on your own boat. It is a perfect excuse to have a good time while you continue discovering the wonders that Costa da Morte has to offer. This area is very special for its fauna, especially birds.
In the south of Costa da Morte, there are more kayaking adventures waiting for you. You can paddle to the Ézaro waterfall and out into the open sea. If you are adventurous enough, you can even go to the Lobeiras Islands. A small archipelago in the Corcubion estuary with a lot of magic.
