Find out more about Cabo Roncudo

Main Cape of Bergantiños next to Cape Santo Hadrián and Cape Nariga.

Punta Roncudo owes its name to the echo produced by the sound of the Atlantic Sea on the coast of this promontory.

The Roncudo Lighthouse constantly alerts the maritime traffic of A Costa da Morte of the proximity and danger of this sea, a traditional cemetery for shipwrecks. The crosses erected on the cape also remember the lives of the sailors and shellfish gatherers drowned or disappeared in this infinite ocean.

It is an ideal place to contemplate the passage of seafaring birds, or migratory birds, travelers, including the seagull and the sea crow.

It is also famous for its barnacles, which grow on rocks churned by the waves.

In these restless waters you have to know the tides before going out to sea. The moon and the state of the sea govern the fate of barnacles and “barnacles”.

There are many people who lost their lives doing this work, betrayed by the sea.

Here the tides can have oscillations of more than four meters, and it is then, during the lowest tides, and if the sea allows it, when the barnacle is discovered previously hidden under the foam of the waves.
