Some nights are experienced in a special way in the Costa da Morte, but few preserve as much magic as San Xoán. The glow of the bonfires, the aroma of grilled sardines, the music and the gatherings around the table once again mark the arrival of summer in towns and villages throughout the region.

The San Xoán 2026 celebrations in the Costa da Morte will begin during the previous weekend and continue through 23, 24 and 25 June. There will be major popular festivities, open-air dances, sardine barbecues, cookouts, children’s activities, traditional music and events that revive deeply rooted customs such as preparing the traditional San Xoán herbs.

From Carballo to Fisterra, with celebrations in Camariñas, Corcubión, Cee, Laxe, Seaia, Dumbría, Mazaricos, O Esto, O Pindo, Lires and Sardiñeiro, these are some of the places where you can enjoy the most magical night of the year and welcome the summer of 2026.

A night to enjoy and protect the Costa da Morte

Bonfires and traditional lumareas are part of a deeply rooted celebration, but they must always be held in accordance with the instructions issued by organisers and the safety regulations established by each municipality.

It is also important to look after beaches, streets and natural areas, remove all waste and avoid leaving food remains, packaging or other materials near the sea. Celebrating San Xoán in the Costa da Morte means enjoying the festivities while also protecting the landscape that makes this night so special.

Programmes may be subject to change, so we recommend checking each event page before travelling. The Costa da Morte Events Calendar contains the latest schedules, locations and updates for all the celebrations.
