CMAT launches a new meeting model to strengthen member participation

The new system will allow municipalities not represented on the organisation’s board to attend meetings with a voice.

The CMAT board of directors – Costa da Morte Tourism Association met this Tuesday, 3 March, at Casa do Pendón, hosted by the Mayor of Cabana de Bergantiños.

This session marks the start of the new travelling meeting model, a measure agreed by the current board members with the aim of encouraging greater participation and involvement of all member municipalities in the organisation’s day-to-day activity.

From now on, monthly meetings will be held on a rotating basis in municipalities that are not part of the board. In this way, members will be able to attend the sessions with a voice, learn first-hand about the issues discussed, and contribute proposals and reflections on tourism management across the territory.

The meeting also addressed matters related to the organisation’s strategic planning and the coordination of the actions scheduled for the current year, within the roadmap set out in the action plan.

With this initiative, CMAT takes a further step in its commitment to a more open, decentralised and closer governance model, strengthening internal cohesion and ensuring that all member municipalities have the opportunity to participate actively beyond the annual Ordinary General Assembly.

In fact, the Ordinary General Assembly will be held later this month, where the accounts for the 2025 financial year, the 2026 budget, and a review of the action plan will be submitted for approval, in order to assess its level of implementation and adapt the lines of work to the destination’s current needs.

CMAT – Costa da Morte Tourism Association thus continues working to consolidate a coordinated, participatory and representative tourism model for the whole of Costa da Morte, strengthening institutional collaboration and the unity of the territory as a destination.
