Every June 16, the parish of Toba in the municipality of Cee hosts the San Adrián de Toba Pilgrimage, one of the most traditional and heartfelt religious celebrations in the Costa da Morte. Declared a local holiday, the event gathers hundreds of people who bring offerings such as the live rooster auction, and enjoy a full day of outdoor festivities with family and friends.
Saint Adrián is worshipped as a healer of skin ailments and wounds, for both people and animals. Devotees traditionally offered wax body part ex-votos, potatoes, or roosters depending on the illness. Some participants still follow the ritual of walking on their knees around the church and the cross.
The parish church, rebuilt in 1772 in a classical Baroque style, retains its 12th-century Romanesque apse. Nearby, visitors can relax in a shaded picnic area or explore the ethnographic complex of the Toba Watermills, a tranquil spot with stone tables, fire pits, and the soft flow of the Río das Laxes, perfect for a peaceful countryside lunch.
