Legend has it that a ship off the coast of Fisterra could not move forward until it threw a box into the sea. This box arrived on a beach in Fisterra and when the fishermen opened it, they discovered the image of the Holy Christ. Somehow, the figure decided that this was the place where he should stay and since then he has not left the town. Every Holy Week, since then, the feast of the Holy Christ is celebrated in which you can witness and participate in the representation of the different elements of the passion of Christ: from the pilgrimage of the Holy Christ and the procession of the triumphal entry into Jerusalem, to the procession of the Holy Burial and the staging of the resurrection. All this while attending the masses and offerings that complement the stagings and rites. But not everything is related to religion, as you will also have spaces where you can enjoy the night festival with its orchestras and dances.
The “Fiestas del Santo Cristo” are celebrated in Fisterra and the surrounding towns every Easter.
