Find out more about Botanical Garden of the Fernando Blanco de Lema Institute

The Botanical Garden of the Fernando Blanco de Lema Institute, located in Cee, is one of the most unique green spaces on the Costa da Morte. Created at the end of the 19th century, possibly by the architect José María Aguilar, who also designed the Foundation’s buildings, this historic garden harmoniously combines geometric and landscape elements.

The garden is divided into two main areas: the old garden, with a symmetrical layout next to the school building and a terraced meadow area; and the wooded meadow, of more recent creation, with varied vegetation arranged in a grid. It stands out for its biodiversity and for housing centenary specimens of remarkable botanical value.

To this ensemble are added stone elements and associated infrastructures – such as the fountain-drinking fountain, the pergola, the caretaker building and the historic grille – that enrich or complete this xardín, considered a heritage and natural reference of the municipality
