A historia vaxenial, by Raquel Nogueira and Iván Marcos, comes to FIOT 2026 in Carballo with a comedy that places women’s bodies centre stage and revisits, with research, irony and sharp Galician wit, how they have been represented —or erased— throughout history.
The piece follows the path opened by the web series Historias Vageniales, winner of a Mestre Mateo Award, bringing its blend of accessible knowledge, humour and feminist perspective to the stage. The show travels across different historical periods to examine how depictions of female sexual organs were linked to the social status of women and their place in the world.
Part staged lecture, part confessional monologue and part historical comedy, Raquel Nogueira and Iván Marcos turn a subject surrounded by silence and taboo into an agile, irreverent theatrical experience. The production is part of Rúa dos Contos at FIOT 2026.
