The Virxe do Faro Pilgrimage 2026 takes place on Tuesday, 8 September, bringing together the communities of Brantuas, Niñóns, Corme and Corme Aldea for one of Ponteceso’s most deeply rooted religious and popular celebrations. The day combines a traditional procession, Masses, Galician bagpipe music and live orchestra performances in the setting of Monte do Faro, a place closely connected with the maritime memory of this part of the Costa da Morte.
As is traditional, a marquee will be available during the celebration.
The religious programme begins before the main day. On Monday, 31 August at 20:00, the novena begins at the church in Brantuas. The celebrations conclude on Sunday, 13 September at 18:00, when the image of the Virgin is carried back down to Brantuas accompanied by a bagpipe band.
Devotion to the Virxe do Faro has deep roots in the surrounding parishes and a historic connection with the seafaring communities of Bergantiños. Every 8 September, the procession to the chapel on Monte do Faro turns this part of Brantuas into a meeting place for local residents, families and visitors wishing to experience a tradition that brings together faith, music and community life.
