Discover Muxía through a very special perspective: that of someone who lives and works by the Atlantic. The Vila Muxía Experience is a free guided activity that brings visitors closer to the world of gooseneck barnacles, local seafaring culture and one of the toughest and most fascinating traditional jobs on the Costa da Morte.
The route will be led by professional barnacle harvester Santiago Pérez Haz, who will share first-hand experiences, explain the barnacle habitat and sustainable harvesting techniques, and talk about the risks, skills and strong sense of teamwork involved in working on the rocks.
During the experience, you will discover how this traditional occupation works and why it is so closely linked to the identity of Muxía and the Costa da Morte. It is a chance to learn, ask questions and see the sea from a new perspective with someone who knows its rhythms and challenges well.
The activity will finish with a visit to AbruMar and a tasting of handmade seafood products, bringing the morning to a close with local flavour and a strong connection to the coast.
This initiative is promoted by GALP Costa da Morte as part of the Mar e Rías: Pesca & Turismo project. If you are interested in marine tourism, barnacle culture and authentic stories from the Costa da Morte, this event in Muxía is well worth adding to your plans.
