The 18th Brantuas – Niñóns Cultural Week 2026 takes place from 30 August to 7 September at the Casa dos Veciños in Brantuas, Ponteceso. Across nine days, the local community comes together for music, local memory, theatre, comedy, walking routes, food and the kind of shared cultural traditions that are deeply rooted in this part of the Costa da Morte.

The programme brings together a wide range of activities for different generations, including traditional music, a comedy monologue by Quico Cadaval, a concert by Milladoiro, theatre, tributes, heritage walks through the local villages, a historical-memory book presentation and popular food tastings.

Programme for the 18th Brantuas – Niñóns Cultural Week 2026

Sunday 30 August

  • 12:00: presentation of the Cultural Week programme and distribution of the weekly pass.
  • Musical performance by students from the A.C. Brantuas, Niñóns and Os Ánxeles music course.
  • Snacks for attendees.

Monday 31 August

  • 20:00: novena mass.
  • 21:00: musical performance by the Súa Cerca pandeireteiras group.
  • 22:00: snacks.

Tuesday 1 September

  • 20:00: novena mass.
  • 21:00: screening of videos and photographs from previous editions, followed by a tribute to local resident Fernando Castro Villar.
  • 22:00: snacks.

Wednesday 2 September

  • 20:00: novena mass.
  • 21:00: theatre by the Os Seixos de Tella group.
  • 22:00: snacks.

Thursday 3 September

  • 20:00: novena mass.
  • 21:00: performance by the Tuna de Ferrol “Lucero del Alba”.
  • 22:00: snacks.

Friday 4 September

  • 09:00: nature walk through the local villages.
  • 20:00: novena mass.
  • 21:00: comedy monologue by Quico Cadaval.
  • 22:00: snacks.

Saturday 5 September

  • 09:30: circular walk starting and finishing at the Association venue, exploring the historic heritage of the local villages.
  • 21:00: concert by traditional Galician music group Milladoiro.
  • 22:30: callos tasting.

Sunday 6 September

  • 12:00: presentation of a historical-memory book focusing this year on the carpenters of Brantuas and Niñóns.
  • 14:00: cocido tasting.
  • 15:45: mobile disco music.
  • 20:00: novena mass.
  • 22:00: snacks.

Monday 7 September

  • 20:00: novena mass.
  • 21:00: musical performance by Jesús Couto and his accordions.
  • 22:00: snacks.

Culture, memory and community in Brantuas – Niñóns

Beyond the headline performers, this Cultural Week reflects a very local way of keeping culture alive: remembering the stories of the villages, walking through their heritage, gathering around music and opening the Casa dos Veciños as a shared meeting place. It is a particularly rewarding event for visitors who want to experience the popular culture of Ponteceso and the Costa da Morte at close range.
