Find out more about Monte da Peneda in A Ameixenda

Monte da Peneda in A Ameixenda (Cee) is one of the most impressive scenic viewpoints in Galicia’s Costa da Morte. This granite hilltop, located in the parish of A Ameixenda, is known for its massive rock formations that resemble human and animal shapes, inspiring local legends and folklore.

During the Spanish Civil War, some locals sought refuge in the natural crevices of this rocky landscape, particularly in the area known as A Devesa do Rei, which offered protection from southern winds and stunning views over the Corcubión estuary. The route from Prado do Castro to Caneliñas is dotted with prehistoric petroglyphs and stone carvings, adding archaeological value to the experience.

From the summit, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Fisterra Cape, Monte Pindo, the Lobeiras Islands and Carrumeiros rocks. It is especially magical at sunset, offering one of the most unforgettable experiences in the Costa da Morte. A must-see for nature lovers, history enthusiasts, and sunset seekers.
