On Saturday, 26 September 2026, Arrueiro in Soesto (Laxe) hosts a full-day beginner nature photography workshop led by photographer and nature communicator Dani López. The experience is designed to help participants photograph wildlife and landscapes through observation, field knowledge and respect for the ecosystems of Costa da Morte.
The workshop combines theory, hands-on field practice, camera trapping, landscape reading and gastronomy. No previous experience or professional equipment is required. The goal is to build practical foundations so that participants can approach nature photography with better judgement, greater confidence and a deeper understanding of what happens before the shutter is pressed.
The day starts at Arrueiro with a morning theory session covering the essential skills and decisions behind effective nature photography.
This is followed by practical work around Arrueiro, where participants will learn how to identify suitable observation points, set up camera traps and position them correctly to obtain higher-quality records.
In the afternoon, the group will travel to Lagoa de Traba, one of the most valuable natural areas near Laxe, to put the morning’s learning into practice. The field session includes nature photography exercises, wildlife observation, interpretation of the landscape, real-world use of photographic equipment and basic orientation and movement in natural environments.
The workshop goes beyond camera technique. Learning to read the landscape, recognise wildlife signs, anticipate behaviour and work with minimal impact can lead to stronger photographs while encouraging a more thoughtful relationship with the natural environment.
The experience includes lunch for all participants. In the evening, after returning to Arrueiro, the day concludes with a tasting-menu dinner created especially for the workshop by chef Víctor Basante, winner of the Premio Cociñeiro Galego 2025.
This makes the workshop a complete Costa da Morte experience, bringing together photographic learning, exploration of local natural spaces and contemporary Galician gastronomy in a rural setting in Soesto.
The price is €150 per person and includes theory, practical sessions throughout the day, lunch, tasting-menu dinner and supporting material. Places are limited.
