Discover the seafaring identity of Camariñas from the inside with “Camariñas, a town shaped by the sea”, a free guided maritime tourism experience taking place on Friday, 18 September 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. Starting at the Statue of the Dance of Arches on the seafront, the tour explores the harbour with a local seafood gatherer and offers first-hand insight into the jobs, boats and fishing techniques that have shaped daily life in this Costa da Morte fishing town.
The experience will be led by María Jacqueline Lista Fateira, a shellfish gatherer from Camariñas, who will share her first-hand knowledge of maritime occupations, fishing vessels and traditional fishing methods. Rather than a conventional sightseeing tour, this is an opportunity to understand the harbour as a living workplace and as a key part of local memory and identity.
Participants will gain a closer view of fishing and shellfish gathering through explanations rooted in the territory and in the experience of the people who keep its maritime culture alive.
Camariñas has a deep relationship with the sea, reflected in its harbour, fishing fleet, seafaring families and traditions such as the Dance of Arches. This guided visit helps visitors interpret that living heritage through the experience of a local maritime worker, giving context to the skills, techniques and knowledge that support the local economy and culture.
