Galician Literature Week 2026 in Muxía arrives with a full programme of activities dedicated to one of the most meaningful dates in Galician culture. This year, Galician Literature Day honours the journalist and writer Begoña Caamaño, an author who left a strong mark on Galician literature and who also stood out for her social commitment, especially in the defence of women’s rights.
The activities will begin on 9 May at 19:00 in Praza Cabo da Vila, with a tribute to the accordionist Pazos de Merexo on the centenary of his birth and a concert by Acordeireta. The programme will continue on 15 May at 20:00 in the Salón do Voluntariado with a concert by the Coral Virxe da Barca, a very special musical event to keep celebrating the language, memory and cultural identity of Muxía.
On 16 May at 12:00, Praza Cabo da Vila will host the Great Galician Literature Game, a team activity designed to help participants learn more about the origin and meaning of this celebration, as well as facts and curiosities about the writers honoured over the years. Registration is available at the Library. That same evening, at 20:00, the band Abril will present their album “Medrar” in Praza Cabo da Vila. The programme will end on 17 May at 12:00 with a tribute and floral offering to the Muxía poet Gonzalo López Abente, to whom Galician Literature Day was dedicated in 1971. In case of rain, the activities planned for Cabo da Vila will move to the Salón do Voluntariado, and the Great Galician Literature Game to the Sala Gervasio Sar.
