The Concello de Fisterra presents a special programme to celebrate Galician Literature Day 2026 in Fisterra, an event dedicated to language, culture and collective memory under the motto “Fisterra, where women’s words never fade”. This edition pays tribute to Begoña Caamaño through a programme that brings together traditional music, community participation, oral storytelling, theatre and educational activities.
The programme will begin on Saturday, 16 May with a traditional Galician music concert by Cristian Leggiero & Patty Lesta, at 12:30 p.m. in the Praza da Constitución in Fisterra. On Sunday, 17 May, the main day of the celebration, the Port of Fisterra will host the Foliada das Letras at 1:00 p.m., organised by the Asociación Trubisquiña. It will be an open celebration where locals and visitors are invited to sing, play, dance and share the living energy of Galician popular culture.
This celebration of Galician Literature Day 2026 in Fisterra aims to turn the town into a place of gathering, memory and festivity, where the Galician language is heard in the voices of its people, in the sound of tambourines and in the shared emotion of culture. Because a language lives when it is shared, Fisterra invites everyone to take part in a programme that celebrates the pride of belonging to a tradition that continues to grow from generation to generation.
