On Saturday, July 26th, 2025, the Ría de Camariñas will host a new edition of the Descenso en Kayak Ponte do Porto – Camariñas, one of the most anticipated summer water activities on the Costa da Morte. Organized by the Club Náutico de Camariñas, this non-competitive tour offers a unique way to enjoy the river and sea landscapes from the water, passing through one of the most stunning and symbolic natural settings in the region.
The route, approximately 7 km (around 4 nautical miles), begins at the main bridge in Ponte do Porto and gently follows the Río Grande downstream to its mouth in the ría. Along the way, paddlers will pass highlights such as the traditional boatyard and the Cereixo Castle. After a short stop at the fluvial beach of Ariño (Xaviña), the journey continues to Lingunde Beach for another brief break, before finishing at the marina in Camariñas.
The activity is open to participants aged 16 and over (minors must be accompanied in a double kayak), and it is required to know how to swim and have basic kayaking skills. Wearing a life jacket is mandatory, and the tour will be done in a compact group, with continuous support and supervision from the organizers. In case of adverse weather conditions, the route may be modified or cancelled.
Registration is open until Thursday, July 24th. To sign up, fill out the form available on the Club Náutico website and follow the instructions that will be sent via email to complete payment. Registration will not be valid until payment is confirmed.
