On 4 October 2026 at 8:00 pm, the Auditorio da Casa da Cultura de Corcubión will host a performance by Cheny Wa Gune, a Mozambican musician, composer, performer, producer, teacher and researcher.
Born in Maputo in 1980, he is a leading figure in the promotion of Mozambican music and traditional instruments, particularly the timbila, chitende, chigovia and percussion, which he combines with contemporary sounds to create a musical language of his own.
A co-founder of Timbila Muzimba with an extensive solo career, his music has taken him to stages across Africa, Europe, Latin America and Asia, with appearances at numerous festivals and cultural exchange projects. His connection with Galicia includes events such as WOMEX Galicia 2016, Trad Fest in Santiago de Compostela and Festival Maré.
Throughout his career he has collaborated with artists including Selma Uamusse, Jorge Pardo, Xixel Langa, Natali Natiambé and Hélio Beatz. He has also developed significant work as a teacher and researcher, contributing to the transmission and preservation of Mozambican musical traditions.
An opportunity to discover the richness of Mozambican music through a proposal that brings together tradition, contemporary creation and cultural exchange.
