The Museo do Mar de Laxe will host a new edition of the Isidro Parga Pondal Summer School on 18 and 19 September 2026, a cultural and science outreach event devoted to exploring and promoting the legacy of one of the leading figures in Galician geology.
Across two days, Laxe will bring together specialists and members of the public to examine the career, work and influence of Isidro Parga Pondal, a scientist closely connected to Galicia and a key figure in the development of geological research in the region.

The Summer School offers a meeting point for anyone interested in Parga Pondal’s legacy, the geology of Galicia, the history of science and natural heritage. Held at the Museo do Mar, the event also highlights the close relationship between knowledge, landscape and local memory on the Costa da Morte.
The event will take place at the Museo do Mar de Laxe, Rúa Pracer 5. It is an opportunity to discover the legacy of Isidro Parga Pondal through expert perspectives and to enjoy a cultural programme with a strong public-outreach focus.
Organised by the Concello de Laxe, the Asociación Cultural Xeolóxica and the Deputación da Coruña.
