As ben dadas, by Atenea García, receives its world premiere at FIOT 2026 in Carballo. This oral storytelling piece explores stories of sexual dissidence in Galicia with humour and a critical eye, bringing biographies that rarely occupied the centre of public narratives into the spotlight.
Atenea García offers a lively, intimate and deliberately playful performance that questions common myths about non-normative sexualities: that they are something recent, that they were absent from rural life, or that lives outside the norm only found a place in cities. Through storytelling and life chronicles, As ben dadas visits those margins and reminds us that they are part of our shared history too.
The show is part of Rúa dos Contos, FIOT’s strand devoted to storytelling, oral culture, Galician wit and humour in close-up venues.
