The Concello de Zas celebrates Galician Literature Day 2026 with an extensive cultural programme running throughout the month of May, dedicated this year to the writer and journalist Begoña Caamaño. The programme brings together literary, musical and theatrical activities, exhibitions, reading events and educational initiatives designed to bring Galician culture and language closer to people of all ages.
The activities began with the Feira das Letras at Praza Jorge Mira in Baio, organised by the Concello de Zas and the BaiON Association, and continue with cultural exhibitions in the municipality’s sociocultural centres, the 16th Bookmark Competition for local schoolchildren and several activities for children, families and schools. Highlights include storytelling sessions by Trinke Trinke, school performances by the Estatalá company and a performance by Os Meninos do Pandeiro.
Theatre will also play an important role in the special Galician Literature Day 2026 programme in the Concello de Zas, with two performances on Sunday, 17 May: Dous no camiño, by Artefeito, at the Reirís Recreational Area, and Sol Fuerza, by aAntena, at the Baio Auditorium. It is an open and varied celebration closely linked to the promotion of the Galician language, local creativity and the cultural life of the municipality.
