Eclipse at the end of the world brings to Fisterra a special outreach event focused on the eclipse, astronomy and skywatching in one of the most symbolic places on the Costa da Morte. The activity will take place on 28 May at the Assembly Hall of Fisterra Town Council, with free admission subject to capacity, and will feature Óscar Blanco, astrophotographer, Starlight monitor, eclipse chaser and director of the Trevinca Astronomical Centre.
The programme will be divided into two sessions. At 6:00 p.m., there will be a session aimed at the tourism sector in Fisterra, designed to connect this astronomical phenomenon with the destination’s potential and with the opportunities it creates for outreach, territorial interpretation and experience-based tourism. It will be a chance to look up at the sky, but also to understand how the night sky can become part of the tourism narrative of the end of the world.
At 7:30 p.m., the event will open to the general public, offering an accessible way to learn more about eclipses and the excitement of witnessing one of nature’s most fascinating phenomena. The activity is organised by the Concello de Fisterra with the collaboration of the Costa da Morte Astronomy Association.
