Find out more about Church of San Adrián de Toba: Romanesque heritage in the Costa da Morte

The Church of San Adrián de Toba, located in the municipality of Cee, is a Romanesque temple dating back to the 12th century. With a Latin cross floor plan and a modest apse, it still preserves its original presbytery and triumphal arch. The nave and side chapels were renovated in the 18th century, giving the building a blend of ancient and more modern elements while retaining its historic character.

Inside, visitors can admire a beautiful Baroque statue of Saint Adrian, the parish’s patron saint. Just next to the church stands the Canastro de Caamaño, an iconic Galician granary (hórreo) with 13 pairs of stone feet and a 15-meter length. It features a gabled roof with traditional tiles and decorative finishes of a cross and pinnacle.

A short walk away lies the Toba mills complex, an ethnographic site that showcases the traditional way of life in the region. Together, these elements make the Church of San Adrián de Toba a must-see stop for anyone exploring the cultural landscape of the Costa da Morte.
