The Bitácora do Ézaro Building will be the stage, or on Saturday, a special festival that commemorates the centenary of Ruth Matilda Anderson’s first visit to Costa da Morte. The American photographer and ethnographer captured with mastery the daily life, the trades and traditions of bisbarra, creating a unique visual legacy that will be the central theme of this event. Organized by the Council of Dumbría, the act has as an objective to put in value or meticulous work of Anderson, mentres vindicates the role of women in the construction of the Galician society of the past.

The program will include reports by experts such as Alba Rodríguez Saavedra and Ana Cabana Iglesia, who will offer a perspective on the figure of Anderson and Galicia in the first third of the twentieth century. In addition, Patrick Lenaghan, curator of the Hispanic Society of America, will participate by videoconference from the United States to deepen the photographic legacy of the ethnographer. In the afternoon, a faladoiro with elders of Dumbría will recover the memory and intangible heritage of the area, recalling experiences and stories transmitted over the long period of the expeditions. The xornada, with free and free access, will be a unique opportunity to explore the rich history and culture of the Costa da Morte.
