Lorena Mariño, Diego Alonso and María Lema will decide the winner of the 1st Costa da Morte, Naturally Wild Photographic Competition from among more than forty photographs.
ZAS, 06/11/2024. Costa da Morte Tourist Association (CMAT) announces the people who will be part of the jury that will choose the winner of this first edition of the photographic contest Costa da Morte, Naturalmente Salvaxe.
The winner will receive the prize during the celebration of the IV Annual Meeting of Tourism of the Costa da Morte, which will be held on Tuesday 12th November at 18:00h at the Pazo de Trasariz, Vimianzo.
The jury of this first edition
The jury of this edition is made up of three people.
Diego Alonso: born in 1976, photography is in his blood. He comes from a family of photographers who, from his great-grandfather to his parents, portrayed the moments and landscapes of the Costa da Morte, a land that gave him his first inspirations and a deep sense of belonging.
In 2006 he decided to open his own path and created Diego Alonso Fotógrafo, a project with which he entered the world of social photography. Now, after almost two decades, his speciality is weddings. He likes to think that his work is more than a series of photos: it is capturing those unique moments when two people say ‘yes’ to each other forever and ever, and being part of those moments fills him with gratitude.
Lorena Mariño is a photographer from Malpica de Bergantiños. She is currently dedicated to making photomontages with self-portraits, in which she generally develops a dark or idyllic style, inspired by films and scary stories, legends with their fantastic beings or mythology.
María Lema is a career civil servant of the Diputación de A Coruña, vice-president of the CMAT and councillor for culture, education and tourism in the town council of Dumbría. She defines herself as a person who likes to share knowledge and is always willing to learn something new.
In relation to the world of photography, she is the driving force behind the #DumbríaÉ movement, created in 2011 to make visible the departments and actions in Dumbría Town Council networks, and projected over the years in different areas, giving rise to a photography contest with the same name to make visible different themes of Dumbría.
Competition prizes
This first edition will have two prizes: an Audience Award and a Jury Award.
The Audience Award will go to the photo that, by 31 October at 23:59 hours, had received the most likes on the Instagram post with which it entered the competition.
In the Jury Prize, the decision will be made by the aforementioned jury, which will have to select three finalists from among all the participating photographs, from which the winner will be chosen.
The four photographs (the one awarded by the public and the three finalists of the Jury’s Prize) will be exhibited during the IV Meeting of Tourism of the Costa da Morte, organised by CMAT, which will be held on 12th November at the Pazo de Trasariz, in Vimianzo.
It will be at this event where the prizes will be awarded to the two winners. The prizes will consist of a night in a tourist establishment on the Costa da Morte for two people and a gastronomic experience, as well as a printed photograph and a diploma.
A competition to promote Costa da Morte
This photographic competition, which was active from June until 31 October, served to energise the CMAT’s social networks, where more than fifty publications showed the great natural wealth of our territory under the hashtag #concursonaturalmentesalvaxe.
Manuel Muíño, president of the CMAT and mayor of Zas, assessed the development of the contest positively: ‘This first edition opens a good opportunity to continue expanding tourism promotion initiatives on social networks. The good participation and the diversity of the images demonstrate once again the richness of our territory in many areas’.
