Costa da Morte Tourist Association organizes in February a program funded by the Deputation of A Coruña, to train unemployed people in cooking, catering and accommodation to meet the needs of staff in the sector.
The president of the CMAT emphasizes that the initiative “will help tourism companies in the geodestination to improve their positioning and the skills of their professionals”.
Costa da Morte Tourism Association (CMAT) launches a free training program called Improvement in the management and promotion of tourism services of Costa da Morte aimed at workers registered in any of the 17 municipalities of the geodestination unemployed or affected by a Temporary Employment Regulation Expedient (ERTE). The initiative, financed by the Deputation of A Coruña, is developed in person at the Forum of Carballo during the month of February 2022. “This training plan was designed and implemented to help our tourist destination and its companies to improve both their positioning and the skills of their professionals,” said Monica Rodriguez, president of the CMAT and mayor of the City of Vimianzo, who recalls that “the training of workers in the tourism sector is essential to offer quality tourism excellence.
The training program organized by the CMAT, which begins now with a first phase of 105 hours and will continue throughout the year, includes three courses: Kitchen Assistant, Bar and Restaurant Service and Cleaning Procedures Techniques in Tourist Accommodation. Those interested in registering – there will be twenty places per specialty – will have to be registered in one of the 17 municipalities of Costa da Morte (Cabana, Camariñas, Carballo, Carnota, Cee, Corcubión, Coristanco, Dumbría, Fisterra, A Laracha, Laxe, Malpica, Mazaricos, Muxía, Ponteceso, Vimianzo and Zas).
The president of the CMAT explains that the association she presides, after contacting and knowing the needs of the tourist ecosystem, “took note and started to work on the design, organization and launching of this training plan that now begins its course”. “We were aware that there was a lack of qualified personnel such as kitchen assistants or in the hotel and tourist accommodation service”, says Mónica Rodríguez, who points out that “in this way we cover the gap that was missing in the training of our future workers at the same time that we encourage the recruitment of Costa da Morte personnel”.
The company Acerta Formación, based in Cee and specialized in the tourism sector, is responsible for implementing the training project. The classroom courses will take place in the Forum of Carballo. The Hotel Mar de Laxe, based in the capital of Laxe and partner company of CMAT, will also collaborate, where the practical part of the courses will be programmed. To register, those interested can contact Acerta Formación by phone at 981.106.060 or by email at acertaformacion@gmail.com.
