CMAT will hold the 5th Costa da Morte Tourism Meeting on 11 November at the Pazo de Villar de Francos in Carballo.

The Costa da Morte Tourism Association (CMAT) is organizing the 5th Annual Costa da Morte Tourism Meeting, which will take place on Tuesday, 11 November 2025 at the Pazo de Villar de Francos (Carballo). The event is funded by the Axencia Turismo de Galicia and supported by the A Coruña Provincial Council.

This gathering—already established as a benchmark for the region’s tourism sector—aims to encourage the exchange of experiences and drive the economic and social development of the Costa da Morte geodestination.

In its latest edition, held at the Pazo de Trasariz (Vimianzo), the meeting brought together numerous public and private stakeholders involved in promoting the area. This year, the goal is once again to strengthen collaboration among entities, foster synergies, and consolidate a joint working network in favor of sustainable, high-quality tourism.

The Pazo de Villar de Francos, chosen as this year’s venue at the most recent Board of Directors meeting, is a place steeped in history and symbolism. The building was erected around an old defensive tower from the 16th century and expanded over the 17th century. For years it was the residence of the Marquis of Atalaya, who lived there until the 1990s. The choice of this emblematic manor house as the venue was agreed at the CMAT Board of Directors meeting held on 1 October.

Throughout the day, the association will review the actions and projects carried out over the year, sharing results, new proposals, and future challenges to keep growing the destination. In addition, a tribute will be paid to the women of the territory, acknowledging the work of the bobbin lacemakers, who will create the gift to be presented to this edition’s ambassador.

An increasingly consolidated event

The Annual Costa da Morte Tourism Meeting aims to be a meeting point for the territory’s public and private stakeholders, who work every day to improve the Costa da Morte as a tourist destination. The journey of this meeting began in 2021 at the Parador Costa da Morte, in Muxía. Subsequent editions were held in Costa Caión (Caión, A Laracha), at the Torre de Laxe (Laxe), and at the Pazo de Trasariz (Vimianzo).

In this fifth edition, the III Costa da Morte Ambassador Award will also be presented, recognizing a career and commitment to promoting the region. The person chosen will join Bieito Romero, founding member of the group Luar na Lubre, and Jorge Mira, Professor of Applied Physics at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), who were honored in the first two editions of the award.
