This 2019 has been a very productive year for the CMAT, as progress has been made in complying with the 2019-2021 Costa da Morte Tourism Action Plan, working intensively on some of the strategic lines. Looking forward to next year, we will continue to make every effort to achieve the tourist recognition that Costa da Morte deserves.
We started with our brand, which in the middle of the year transformed radically. In August we present a new, more attractive image that seeks to symbolize the richness of the “xeodestino” with the green of its nature, the blue of the sea or the orange of the sunsets.
This new image is already shining in the new tourist guides and leaflets we have prepared for our visitors. The leaflets are four, one for each of our brand values with which we want Costa da Morte to be known: “Naturally wild”, “Magic and spiritual”, “Marine character” and “Traditional and deep”, while the guide covers them more fully. In addition to the paper format that can be found at different points in the local councils such as Tourist Offices and information points, they are available for consultation and download on our website.
Another highlight of our work throughout 2019 was the promotion of sports tourism. The project “Costa da Morte Turismo + Deporte” was born from this objective, which counts on the collaboration of different tourist establishments to guarantee an experience of the most attractive for the athletes who come to take some test and their companions. In the coming year, this project will continue to grow in the geodestin, with more establishments affiliated and associated sports trials. In fact, we just released the new promotional dossier this week.
Thinking of those same hospitality and tourism professionals we have prepared a complete training program for free. During the months of October and November we teach the following courses for the sector in Costa da Morte: “Online tourism marketing for destinations and tourist companies and design of cultural programs”, “Improvement of the competitiveness of the hospitality and tourism companies of Costa da Morte in gastronomy local” and “ Basic and medium English applied to tourism ”. All of them were a success of participation and the assistants emphasized the usefulness and the practical aspect of each one of them.
This 2019 was also the year of change for the Directive Board. In July we said goodbye to Juan Blanco, Mayor of Mazaricos as President and we greeted Santiago Toba, Mayor of Muxía. The new president and the brand new board members have since been working and involved in all the actions we have taken.
As we said, this 2019 was a year full of activities and projects for the CMAT. We were present at different fairs and touristic events such as Fitur or the Atlantic Gastronomic Fair, we are also involved in the recognition of the Costa da Morte as a World Surfing Reserve, we pushed our social media strategy and even made a contest on Instagram with the support of Lar Supplies.
By 2020 we are committed to continue working to make Costa da Morte the favorite tourist destination of all publics. Happy New Year!
