We continue with the interviews to the town councils with the Town Council of Malpica de Bergantiños. Malpica is one of the whaling ports that existed on the coast of Galicia in the 17th century. History tells us that it was Basque sailors who founded this town, which was conceived as a base of operations for the fleet that captured cetaceans in this corner of the Atlantic.
Nowadays, Malpica de Bergantiños is one of the most important ports for small-scale fishing in Galicia. The main population centre is the municipal capital, which gives its name to the municipality, although we also have towns such as Buño, Seaia or Cerqueda where most of the inhabitants of the territory are grouped together.

Apart from the Punta Nariga lighthouse, what other places or experiences are not to be missed?
The Sisargas, the Buño smell shop, hiking routes and visits to the port or the fish market.
Galicia in general, and Costa da Morte in particular, are synonymous with good food, any recommendations of typical dishes to discover Malpica through the palate?
Caldeirada, octopus, empanadas, and everything that is caught in our sea. And of course the best meats.
What do the people who visit you tell you? What do they like most about their stay in Malpica and about the Costa da Morte?
