The PLIC! Carballo Book Fair 2026 will celebrate its twentieth edition from 9 to 12 July at the Xardín Municipal in Carballo. Under the slogan “Vinte na PLIC!”, the fair will bring together book presentations, author signings, children’s activities, live music, magic, traditional games, regueifa and events centred on reading. The general opening hours shown on the poster are 11:00 am to 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
Thursday 9 July. The Praza dos Libros 2026 will open at 11:00 am. Throughout the morning, “Libros con atún” will offer a packet of Calvo preserves to anyone buying a book, while the Real Banda de Cadeiras Encartables provides entertainment around the fair. At 12:30 pm, Pedro Feijoo will deliver the opening address, accompanied by a performance from the Banda de Gaitas de Carballo. At 6:00 pm there will be the children’s musical storytelling show Os rizos de Lia. At 7:00 pm, Alberto Varela Ferreiro will present O dragón anano with Xaime Díaz, while traditional games with Os Biosbardos will run from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. At 8:00 pm, Xabier Quiroga will present Alguén ao lado with Marta Seoane. At 9:00 pm, Fran Alonso will present Cáncara with Patricia Blanco.
Friday 10 July. From noon to 2:00 pm, Radiovoz will broadcast Voces de Bergantiños live in memory of Fernando Cabeza Quiles. At noon, Noelia Paz will lead the children’s workshop Animais imaxinarios. At 6:30 pm, Charly Braun will present the children’s magic show As viaxes máxicas. At 7:00 pm, Xavier Alcalá, Manel Cráneo, Silvia Tasende and Diana Varela Puñal will sign copies connected with Cinza, Pel, Memoria e Serea and Ulises. At 8:00 pm, Xan Fraga will present Crónicas de Carballo V with Desirée Domínguez Pallas. At 9:00 pm, Arantza Portabales will present Asasinato no muíño do cura with María Nieto. From 10:00 pm, the Noite PLIC with Xurxo Borrazás will include the unveiling of a new plaque on the Literary Map at O Bodegón tavern.
Saturday 11 July. At noon, Marta Villar will lead a children’s presentation and activity based on O misterio dos gatos rosas. At 1:30 pm, the Escola de Regueifa de Carballo will give a regueifa exhibition. From 6:00 to 9:00 pm, Retratos con Retranca: a caricatura will feature Mon Lendoiro, Cristina Santiago and Santi Picos. At 6:30 pm, Dani Blanco will present the children’s show Can de palleiro (outro circo na biblio). At 8:00 pm, Roberto Cagiao will present Cadea de favores with Marta Villar. At 9:00 pm, Farruco Graña will present Eu voun navegar with Xan Fraga.
Sunday 12 July. Throughout the morning, “Un libro, un pan” will give a loaf of Carballo bread to everyone who buys a book. At noon, María Solar will present As malas ideas with María Rei Vilas. At 1:00 pm there will be a Blues do país concert with Sesión Vermú. At 6:00 pm, Paco Nogueiras will perform the children’s concert Contos grandes e pequenos. At 7:00 pm, Os fíos de Begoña will offer a recital combining words, music and images about the life of Begoña Caamaño, based on Eva Mejuto’s illustrated album and featuring Marcelo Dobode. Also at 7:00 pm, Marcos Emilio Castelo Amado and Xaime Toxo will sign copies of Historia das parroquias de Carballo. O catastro de 1750 and Só navego na voz con que dis o meu nome, respectively. At 8:00 pm, Cecilia F. Santomé will present Boundaries Road with Carme Pereiro. The fair will close at 9:00 pm.
