On Thursday, 15 October 2026 at 7:30 pm, Muxía hosts a screening of «L’archéologue» (The Archaeologist), a documentary directed by Antón Taboada exploring the connections between art, shipwrecks and Galicia’s maritime memory. The event takes place at the Edificio de Servizos Múltiples in Muxía and includes a discussion after the film.
The documentary tells the story of sculptor Emile Gireau, who gives new life to debris from the Aegean Sea (Mar Egeo) oil tanker recovered along the coast of A Coruña. Through his creations, fragments of a maritime disaster become a way to explore remembrance, loss and the marks left on coastal landscapes.
For Muxía, the ocean is inseparable from local identity. Stories of shipwrecks, environmental disasters and community solidarity are part of the wider history of the Costa da Morte. This screening brings those themes into focus through documentary cinema and contemporary sculpture, inviting audiences to look at the coast from a different perspective.
Funded by the Deputación da Coruña with the collaboration of Concello de Muxía.
