Flyhard Produccions comes to FIOT 35 in Carballo with Caballito de mar, the multi-award-winning monologue written by Pau Coya, directed by Rebeca Del Fresno and performed by Marc Torres. The school performance takes place on Wednesday 14 October 2026 at 11:00 am at the Pazo da Cultura as part of FIOTeen.
The play follows Martí, a twenty-year-old who began his transition a year earlier and whose life changes unexpectedly when routine medical tests reveal that he is pregnant. Faced with an intimate decision, he reflects on his body, desire, identity and the gender codes society often treats as unquestionable.
Caballito de mar does not turn a trans experience into an abstract lesson. Its strength lies in creating a fully rounded character: someone who falls in love, doubts, makes mistakes, laughs, feels fear and must decide what he wants for his own life. Humour and emotion coexist in an intimate monologue that celebrates bodily diversity without reducing Martí to a label.
The production has received numerous awards and speaks particularly well to younger audiences through its direct, sensitive and contemporary approach to identity, relationships and the freedom to be oneself. Within FIOTeen, the performance also provides a valuable starting point for conversations about diversity, autonomy and respect.
