Carnota Council is offering an Introduction to Galician Language and Culture course for people over 16 who are approaching Galician for the first time. The course provides a practical starting point for understanding and using the language while also introducing key aspects of Galician culture.
Classes will run from 6 to 29 October 2026 at Carnota Town Hall, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. The course includes 20 hours of training, and participants will receive a diploma on completion.
The programme is aimed at people aged 16 and over who are new to Galician. No previous knowledge is required, making it suitable for beginners and newcomers who want a clear introduction to the language.
Registration is open until 28 August 2026 through Carnota Council’s Language Normalisation Service.
Contact: cultura@carnota.gal, 981 106 331 or 981 857 032.
Alongside useful vocabulary and everyday language structures, the course offers cultural context that helps learners understand how Galician is used in daily life. It is particularly useful for newcomers to Galicia and anyone wishing to begin communicating in Galician from a clear, accessible starting point.
