Berenguela na gaiola comes to Ponteceso on Friday, 25 September 2026 for a performance at Edificio das Escolas. Xarope Tulú and Galeatro present this stage production based on the work of Galician writer Manuel María and directed by Paula Carballeira, winner of the 4th Manuel María Theatre Projects Competition.
The production centres on three older women who turn theatre into a space where they can imagine and experience freedoms that have often been denied to them. Through theatrical play, memory and fantasy, the show engages with Manuel María’s Aventuras e desventuras dunha espiña de toxo chamada Berenguela, bringing its themes to audiences across generations.
Paula Carballeira’s writing and direction shape a production that combines warmth, humour and a contemporary approach to the legacy of one of Galicia’s major literary voices. The performance is recommended for audiences aged over 6 and lasts approximately 50 minutes.
