Talía Teatro brings Artur Ui, o ovo da serpe to Vimianzo, a contemporary reworking of Bertolt Brecht’s classic that uses irony and epic-theatre techniques to examine how authoritarian power is built, normalised and consolidated.
Directed by Quico Cadaval, the production brings Brecht’s political satire into the present, treating power not as an abstract idea but as a chain of gestures, compromises, fears and acts of compliance that can allow authoritarian discourse to advance.
With a large cast and a staging that combines comedy, critical distance and dramatic tension, Artur Ui, o ovo da serpe offers theatre that entertains while asking the audience to look directly at the mechanisms of manipulation and obedience. The production is intended for adult audiences and ages 13 and over.
