Odisea, by Portugal’s Companhia do Chapitô, comes to FIOT 2026 in Carballo as part of the Programa de Sala. One of Portugal’s most distinctive theatre companies once again shows how a classic can be reinvented through physical play, theatrical imagination and exuberant humour.
The company takes Odysseus’ journey as the starting point for a fast-moving, visual and delightfully unruly performance. Gods, monsters, shipwrecks and epic adventures are transformed through a stage language built on the body, rhythm, ensemble chemistry and the ability to turn a handful of objects into entire worlds.
Odisea does not simply illustrate the myth; it plays with it. Epic grandeur becomes intimate, heroes lose their solemnity and every scene invites the audience to imagine. The result blends physical precision and comedy with a remarkable sense of theatrical freedom, a hallmark of Chapitô’s work.
The performance takes place on Friday 9 October 2026 at 9:00 pm at the Auditorio Pazo da Cultura in Carballo. It is an ideal choice for audiences who enjoy physical theatre, collective creation and contemporary reworkings of major classical stories.
