On Saturday, 12 September 2026 at 7:30 pm, Museo de Corme will host a screening of Crónicas da Galiza Mártir, a documentary directed by Xan Leira exploring one of the most difficult and complex periods in Galicia’s modern history.
The screening is part of the Outono das Artes programme and offers a thoughtful cultural event for audiences interested in Galician historical memory, documentary film and the ways societies preserve and interpret traumatic experiences.
The film looks at the violence and repression experienced in Galicia from 1936 onwards, focusing on victims and on the lasting memory of those events. The documentary presents a committed interpretation of this history and frames itself as an argument against state violence and what it describes as the “Galician genocide”.
Rather than functioning only as a chronological account, the film invites viewers to consider how collective memory is transmitted, discussed and preserved across generations.
Crónicas da Galiza Mártir is directed by Xan Leira, with music by Enrique Estrada and narration by Luis Iglesia. Its combination of archive material, voice and music makes the screening relevant both to viewers interested in history and to audiences who follow socially engaged documentary cinema.
The documentary will be shown on 12 September at 7:30 pm at Museo de Corme (MACCMO), Rúa Real 14, Corme-Porto, in the municipality of Ponteceso. The museum is an active cultural venue in Corme, regularly hosting exhibitions, film and activities connected with art and heritage.
For visitors looking for things to do in Ponteceso on 12 September or for a cultural event in Corme, this screening offers a distinctive opportunity to engage with Galician history through documentary cinema in the heart of the Costa da Morte.
The event is organised by the Deputación da Coruña with the collaboration of Ponteceso Council.
