Corcubión becomes a meeting point for youth sailing on Saturday, 5 September 2026, with the 25th Jesús Elorza Sailing Schools Gathering, a day organised by Cataventos Escola de Vela featuring an Optimist and Multiclass regatta in front of Corcubión harbour.
The event combines competition, learning and social activities around the sea. The programme is designed so crews can review wind and tide conditions, safety rules and the race course before taking part in races adapted to the different boat classes.
The organisers plan to hold four races per class, subject to weather and sailing conditions. The fleet will include plastic Optimists on a shorter course, fibreglass Optimists on a longer course, and a Multiclass category with boats such as the Omega, Laser Pico, Topper and Laser.
Beyond the competitive results, the gathering focuses on developing young sailors, reinforcing safety at sea and encouraging interaction between sailing schools. It is also an excellent opportunity to experience the atmosphere of a dinghy regatta and enjoy nautical activity in one of Costa da Morte’s most maritime settings.
