CMAT promotes a more ambitious action plan for 2026

The increase in the annual budget will make it possible to develop larger-scale projects in collaboration with the Provincial Council of A Coruña and the Galician Tourism Agency, as well as to apply for new funding opportunities.

Costa da Morte Tourism Association (CMAT) held its Ordinary General Assembly this Monday, March 23, at the Casa da Cultura in Vimianzo, where the accounts for the 2025 financial year were approved and the 2026 action plan was formally endorsed.

During the session, the main actions carried out throughout 2025 were reviewed, in a year in which several tourism promotion initiatives were consolidated and collaboration with the different stakeholders in the sector was strengthened. These actions made it possible to continue advancing the positioning of Costa da Morte as a distinctive, high-quality tourist destination.

One of the central points of the assembly was the presentation of the 2026 action plan, which stands out for being broader and more ambitious than in previous years. This qualitative leap is possible thanks to the increase in the association’s own funds, which will provide the organisation with greater financial strength. This reinforcement translates into the possibility of promoting higher-budget projects, as well as applying for calls from other public administrations that require co-financing, opening up new opportunities for the tourism development of the territory. Thus, taking into account members’ fees, the annual grant from the Provincial Council of A Coruña and the Xunta de Galicia, as well as other grant calls currently being applied for and still pending resolution, CMAT’s budget for 2026 reaches €260,000.

In this context, CMAT will continue working on strategic lines focused on promotion, reducing seasonality, enhancing local resources, and improving the destination’s competitiveness.

In addition, during the assembly some of the actions planned for the coming months were announced, including the organisation of the Costa da Morte Tourism Week, which will be held to coincide with the sector’s 6th annual event, becoming a new space for meetings and promotion for both professionals and the territory. The upcoming implementation of an innovative educational project was also presented. It will be carried out in all primary schools across the territory and will help younger generations understand Costa da Morte as a whole.

CMAT views this new scenario very positively, as it will strengthen the joint work of local councils, the different public administrations and the tourism sector, with the aim of continuing to promote a sustainable development model and consolidating Costa da Morte as a leading destination.

CMAT’s Board of Directors, which will be renewed in 2027, is currently made up of José Manuel López (A Laracha) as President, Margarita Lamela (Cee) as Vice-President, Francisco Javier Domínguez (Corcubión) as Secretary, and Sandra Vilela (Muxía) as Treasurer; together with the three board members: María Lema (Dumbría), Pepe Formoso (APTCM) and Damián Álvarez (APTCM).
