To mark March 8 (International Women’s Day), the Camariñas Town Council launches the campaign “We Are the Women Who Build Camariñas”, highlighting the essential role local women play in everyday life—at work, in care, in culture, at sea, in local businesses, and in every quiet effort that keeps the community moving forward.
As the mayor points out, the campaign aims to reflect women of different ages, stories, and professions, connected by a shared thread: the commitment to build a better Camariñas day by day, through cooperation, responsibility, and a kind of strength that is often overlooked—but felt everywhere.
A key part of this March 8 initiative is the involvement of students from CEIP O Areal and CEIP Ponte do Porto, who will create a biographical guide to preserve and celebrate the stories of the women who inspire them (mothers, grandmothers, aunts, neighbors…). A meaningful intergenerational way to show that Camariñas is also built through women’s voices.
