This year the 25N programme in Dumbría is filled with activities to raise our voices against gender-based violence and celebrate the strength of women. Dumbría Town Council has prepared a diverse schedule spread over several days in November, with events taking place in cultural, educational and sports venues. It is an invitation to experience the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women through reflection, memory and community participation.
The 25N programme in Dumbría includes a conference on women and work, school workshops focused on equality and positive coexistence, a photography activity open to local residents and a family theatre performance. Each proposal is designed to highlight women’s contributions, recognise different forms of violence and strengthen ties between generations, neighbourhoods and parishes. Butterflies, the symbol chosen for this year, represent strength, transformation and memory, inspired by the Mirabal sisters, known as “the Butterflies”.
During all the events of the 25N programme in Dumbría, cloth bags or backpacks with the motto “Voando xuntas contra a violencia” (“Flying together against violence”) will be handed out as a small symbol of commitment to freedom and dignity. If you live in Dumbría or nearby, choose the activity that best suits you and join this special programme for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Don’t miss out!
