For the second year running, Vimianzo Auditorium hosts the Mestre Mateo Film Series, an initiative by the Galician Audiovisual Academy showcasing the finalists of the Mestre Mateo Awards. From August 27 to November 14, this free program presents a rich mix of genres and formats that highlight Galicia’s audiovisual talent. Admission is free until capacity is reached, with tickets available one hour before each screening.
The series opens Wednesday, August 27 (11:00 AM) with a red-carpet children’s session from the Vimiverán program, screening short films such as Avetimoloxía, Noites de prata, Sinopse, Eu vou comigo, and Platónico, platónica. On Friday, September 12 (8:00 PM), audiences will enjoy the youth thriller As Neves, followed Sept. 19 by the comedy + Cuñados, and Sept. 26 by the documentary Salvaxe, salvaxe, exploring the Iberian wolf’s impact.
In October, the series returns on the 3rd with three short films (Nai, Véxote, Pura) and on the 10th with Aurora, a moving drama about women’s lives. Filmei paxaros voando, a personal film about memory and family reconciliation, screens Oct. 17, and Prefiro condenarme, a documentary on Sagrario, a 1970s shellfish gatherer tried for adultery, screens Oct. 24. The series concludes in November with the futuristic feature Xustiza artificial on the 7th and closes Nov. 14 with the heartfelt drama Honeymoon, about a couple’s loss of a child.
