The 16th Medieval Afternoon–Night in Riobó returns on Saturday, August 9, transforming the village of Riobó into a living medieval fair on the Costa da Morte. From 5:00 PM, locals and visitors can embark on a walk to the Penela Tower and witness the legend of Isaura and Tristan performed by Pastorias Fantoches Baj.
Throughout the village, enjoy medieval food tastings, crafts workshops, and traditional games, along with tasting “tapeliña” routes and browsing local artisan stalls. Horseback rides and live bagpipe and tambourine performances add to the historic atmosphere.
Starting at 7:00 PM, wizard Yago Espasandín will dazzle with ancient magic, followed by Galician folk dance from the Illar Traditional Dance Group. Then, folk ensembles O Son do Castro, Son de Cabana, Os Farrapos, Os Enxebres de Cabana, and Maruxía will fill the air with music and energy.
At 8:00 PM, the opening speech by Os Quinquilláns, Lucho Penabade, and Tero Rodríguez kicks off the medieval feast “A Pitanza do Santo” with the Pantasma Orchestra of Cée. Finally, dance the night away with Alana and A Quinquillada, keeping the medieval spirit alive until late.
