Find out more about Hórreo de Carnota

It is one of the elements for which Carnota is best known. Recognized as a National Monument, it is the largest hórreo in Galicia in the “Fisterrán” style.

This granary was built in 1768, but it was in 1783 when it was expanded with eleven new pairs of feet. It is 34 meters long and 1.90 meters wide. With a rectangular floor plan, a closed chamber with horizontal columns that leave slits between them for ventilation, it has 22 pairs of feet. On one side there are three doors to the interior and Baroque-style pinnacles. It ends in a cross sitting on a ball.

It is part of an architectural and historical complex of great beauty and importance, together with the rectory, the dovecote and the Church of Santa Comba.
