At the event, the distinctions of the Tourist Quality System in Destination (SICTED) will be handed over to 35 establishments of the Costa da Morte recognised by the Secretary of State for Tourism.

ZAS, 14/03/2024. The Costa da Morte Tourism Association (CMAT), with the support of Turismo de Galicia and the Deputación da Coruña, celebrates next Thursday 21st March at 6pm in the Sociocultural Centre of Baio (Zas) the award ceremony of certifications of the Tourism Quality System in Destination (SICTED). During this event, entities will also be informed about the process of adhesion to the SICTED for new establishments during the year 2024.

The Integrated System of Tourist Quality in Destination on the Costa da Morte

This event is part of the implementation process of the Integrated System of Tourist Quality in Destination on the Costa da Morte, promoted by CMAT and co-financed by the Deputación da Coruña through the 2023 grants to management bodies, associations, municipalities and tourist consortia for the improvement of quality, competitiveness and tourist activities in the province of A Coruña. These grants will also be requested in this annuity to give continuity to the mentioned process of implantation.

SICTED is a project of the Secretary of State for Tourism (SETUR) of Spain that has its own methodology based on a global vision of the tourism destinations. This initiative contributes to the implementation of a quality management system in tourism destinations.

In the first cycle of implementation of this system on the Costa da Morte, a total of 35 establishments of the following services of the tourist sector were distinguished: rural tourism houses, hotels, spas, tourism flats, hostels, active tourism/water sports entities, tourist information offices and museums.

During the event on Thursday 21st, these 35 entities will receive their diploma and a “Commitment to Quality Tourism” badge, which accredits them and recognises their efforts and commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Second cycle of SICTED and new memberships

The entities already distinguished will move on to Cycle 2 and a new period of adhesion to Cycle 1 will be opened for new companies and other tourism services, both those already represented and the following newly included: restaurants, artisans and local craft shops. The objective is to develop the project between April and November 2024. During the ceremony of awarding of diplomas, more information will be provided on the process of new memberships for this year.
