Escapalandia, the first family of the #CostaDaMorteEnFamilia campaign

escapalandia

Escapalandia has launched the #CostaDaMorteEnGalicia campaign, promoted by CMAT with funding from the Diputación de A Coruña. This campaign is organised by Eva Abal and Dani Keral, two professional travel bloggers, whose aim is to raise awareness of the Costa da Morte as a family destination, above all, to motivate Galician families to visit the different municipalities to discover their heritage, natural and cultural diversity.

This campaign will feature four families who will make four trips to the Costa da Morte from this weekend until October, through the different municipalities. The first blogging family is Escapalandia, a blog with a large community of followers made up of families who grew up with their children, with more than 100,000 visits per month.

Escapalandia has enjoyed a tour of four municipalities of the Costa da Morte from 31 July to 1 August. The municipalities through which its story has passed are Mazaricos, Carnota, Cee, Dumbría and Vimianzo. Throughout this tour they have been able to enjoy natural landscapes, dotted with rocks of different shapes, Atlantic villages surrounded by high peaks, old mills, and all this with their children. Because Costa da Morte is a family destination full of adventures and different activities.

The route they have travelled passes through different and marvellous places of the Costa da Morte:

Mazaricos

  • Fervenzas in Mazaricos: in this inland municipality, different streams form waterfalls (fervenzas). You can find Fírvado, Santa Locaia, Noveira, Vioxo-Chacín or Gosolfre.
  • Mirador do Enxilde: also in the municipality of Mazaricos. Here you can enjoy beautiful views of pastures and green fields with the reservoir next to Monte Pindo.
  • Naturmaz: this adventure park is located in the same municipality. Perfect for children who want to move around, as it has water activities, climbing, high altitude circuit, archery and much more.

Vimianzo

  • Penedos da Cachucha: in addition to large rock masses with different shapes, you can find wonderful views over the whole area. Moreover, thanks to the panels at the foot of each of the figures, children can learn to identify them. It is a circular route of 6.5 kilometres that you should not miss if you are travelling along the Costa da Morte.
  • Batáns do Mosquetín: the mills and fulling mills of the mosquetín have a history linked to the use of water. You can visit them all year round and enjoy a guided tour during the summer months.
  • Medieval Castle: the icon of Vimianzo and wonderfully preserved. Inside you can see the craftsmen working on it and enjoy the tourist and cultural activities that take place in it.

Carnota

  • Louredo viewpoint: in addition to wonderful panoramic views of the surroundings, you can find a picnic area and a forest of dead trees decorated with colourful motifs by Nando Lestón.
  • Carnota beach: about 7 kilometres long, passing through Boca da Rís, with rocks and pools at low tide, a beach bar and a recreational area with a children’s playground.
  • O Pindo: a quiet village where you can stop and enjoy the sunset.

Dumbría

  • Ézaro viewpoint: in the surroundings of the waterfall that flows directly into the sea.
  • Interpretation Centre: an obligatory stop to discover some curiosities about the place or to ask for information about the hiking routes.

Cee

  • Lires, Gures and Leiriña: small hidden beaches.

If you want to take a look at the whole route and Escapalandia’s experience you can do it in their blog post.

The next family to enjoy the Costa da Morte experience is Antonautas na lagosfera, with a blog focused on their trips and excursions to nearby and accessible places. You can follow their experience on the 25th and 26th of September on their social networks and @visitacostadamorte, and you have all the information about the campaign in another post of our blog
