The Marea Viva project at Hotel Bela Fisterra continues to grow with the arrival of Irish poet Paddy Bushe, who becomes the new patron of this creative and ever-evolving room. Conceived as a unique space for contemporary creation, Marea Viva has become a meeting point for art, literature and the sea, always in close dialogue with the Costa da Morte and its strong Atlantic identity.
Paddy Bushe follows in the footsteps of Marilar Aleixandre, Juan Carlos Mestre and Yolanda Castaño, in a new chapter shaped by the cultural ties between Galicia and Ireland. The poet, who has been staying at Bela Fisterra since April 3 while travelling across the Costa da Morte, returns to a landscape that had already inspired him in 2025 to write the poem Bela Fisterra, created in English and Gaelic. The translation has been carried out by Antonio de Toro, joined by David Clark and Miguel Giráldez from the Amergin University Institute, Irish Studies – UDC, who will also be responsible for the simultaneous translation during the event.
The event will take place on Saturday, April 11 at 12:30 pm at Bela Fisterra, in a gathering where Marilar Aleixandre will symbolically hand over the role to Paddy Bushe as the new patron of this creative space. Modesto Fraga, David Clark and Miguel Giráldez will also take part, and the programme will include readings by several well-known voices from Galician poetry and culture. At 1:30 pm, the videopoem Bela Fisterra, directed by Juan Lesta, will be presented. Lesta is also the creator of the visual piece and the image of the poem that will define the Marea Viva room. The event will also feature live music by Os Sib do Solpor, adding a traditional Galician sound to this artistic and Atlantic experience in Fisterra.
