What happens when a library stays open after dark and its books become part of an adventure? On Friday 23 October 2026, children in Coristanco will have the chance to find out at «Esperta na Biblioteca! – Durmindo entre contos», a special overnight literary experience at Coristanco Municipal Library, ending on Saturday morning, 24 October.
Held to celebrate Libraries Day, the sleepover is organised by Coristanco Town Council through the Municipal Library as part of its Xermolar municipal childcare and work-life balance programme. It brings together stories, teamwork and a rare chance to spend the night surrounded by books.
Advance registration in the Xermolar de Conciliación Municipal programme is mandatory; this is not a drop-in public event. Applications for the sleepover must be submitted between 13 and 16 October 2026. The 30 places will be allocated strictly in the order in which complete applications are received by the Municipal Registry.
Families must submit the application and the required authorisations at Coristanco Town Hall’s General Registry or via the Coristanco electronic municipal office. Successful applicants will be contacted using the details provided.
Participants must bring their own overnight essentials. The full packing list and participation requirements are set out in the official library sleepover rules.
Reading becomes especially memorable when children can explore stories together, solve mysteries and discover a familiar place from a new perspective. This activity in Coristanco, in the Bergantiños area of Costa da Morte, celebrates libraries as welcoming spaces for creativity, friendship and learning.
